Education Above All Foundation and Ministry of Youth and Sports mark international youth day with youth-led activation at Place Vendôme

Education Above All (EAA) Foundation, a global foundation for education and development, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports marked the United Nations International Youth Day with a youth-focused public activation at Place Vendôme, creating an interactive platform for young people in Qatar to share their aspirations, explore opportunities and connect with a growing youth ecosystem. The activation reflects a shared commitment by both partners to empowering young people as active contributors to national and global development. 

Held under the theme "From Learning to Leading: Empowering Youth,” the activation brought together young people, families and visitors in a shared journey highlighting the different stages of youth empowerment, from access to education and skills development to advocacy, volunteering, employment pathways and leadership.

Remaining open at Place Vendôme until 16 August 2026, each interactive installation invites visitors to engage directly with the experiences, perspectives and priorities of young people.

The "Youth Empowerment Unlocked” installation illustrates the different pathways through which EAA, alongside the Ministry of Youth and Sports, empower young people, including access to education, employability, volunteering, and advocacy. 

At the Youth Calling installation, visitors can listen to recorded messages from EAA beneficiaries, Youth Advocates and Qatar’s UN Youth Delegates, sharing, in their own voices, how education and meaningful opportunities have shaped their lives.

Through the Threads of Change experience, visitors are invited to share their interests, priorities and preferred ways of participating, while accessing pathways to register for future youth opportunities.

Ms Alya Fakhroo, Head of Advocacy at EAA Foundation, said: "Education is the starting point, but youth empowerment must extend beyond the classroom. Young people need the confidence, platforms and pathways to transform learning into leadership and opportunity into agency. This International Youth Day, we are creating a space where young people are recognised not simply as beneficiaries, but as advocates, contributors and partners in shaping what comes next. Their voices and lived experiences must remain at the heart of the opportunities we build with them.”

Mr. Fawaz Al Messaifri, Director of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, said:"International Youth Day provides an important opportunity to reaffirm the importance of investing in young people and strengthening their participation and engagement across various areas of development. This event, organized in collaboration with Education Above All Foundation, highlights the importance of national partnerships in creating interactive spaces that place young people at the heart of the experience, enabling them to express their aspirations and explore opportunities in education, professional development, volunteering, and community engagement.

Mr. Rashid Al Naimi, Head of the Youth Development and Empowerment Section at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, said:"This event highlights the importance of moving from the concept of working for young people to working with young people, by providing them with the space to express their views and priorities and to participate in designing solutions and initiatives that respond to their needs and aspirations. We view International Youth Day as an opportunity not only to celebrate young people's achievements, but also to listen to their voices. Young people possess energy, ideas, and capacity to drive change, and our role is to provide the environment, opportunities, and platforms that enable them to turn their potential into tangible impact.

The ‘From Learning to Leadership: Empowering Youth’ event presents a practical model of integrated youth empowerment pathways, beginning with education and skills development, and extending through volunteering, advocacy, and community engagement to employment and leadership. The active involvement of young people in sharing their experiences, ideas, and priorities further demonstrates that they are not merely beneficiaries of empowerment programmes, but essential partners in shaping their own future and the future of their communities. We believe that true investment in young people means giving them the confidence, space, and responsibility to become changemakers today and leaders of tomorrow.”

Ali Al Ajji, EAA’s Youth Advocate and the Ministry’s UN Youth Delegate, said: "Today gave young people the opportunity to share ideas in our own voices and to see that our experiences can influence real opportunities. Being an EAA Youth Advocate and UN Youth Delegate has shown me that leadership begins when young people are trusted, supported and given meaningful ways to participate. We are not waiting to create change in the future, we are already contributing to it today.”

By placing young people at the centre of the event as storytellers, advocates and leaders, EAA highlighted its commitment to supporting youth beyond access to education. Through its Silatech and ROTA programmes, the Foundation connects young people with opportunities in employment, entrepreneurship, skills development, volunteering, advocacy and civic participation, equipping them with the tools and platforms to become active contributors and leaders within their communities.

Partnerships remain central to EAA’s ability to expand opportunities for young people and translate its youth empowerment vision into meaningful action. With the continued support of its strategic partner, Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), the Foundation advances its wider efforts in education, development and youth empowerment, helping to expand impact and create sustainable pathways for young people to realise their potential and contribute meaningfully to their communities. As part of this activation, collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports strengthens efforts to develop young people’s skills and broaden their participation, while Place Vendôme provides an accessible public platform for youth to share their voices, engage with the community and connect with future opportunities. Through these partnerships, EAA continues to mobilise expertise, resources and community engagement in support of young people as active contributors and leaders of positive change.
