Qatar Charity supports rehabilitation of Gaza children with prosthetic limbs in Jordan
As part of its continued humanitarian response for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, Qatar Charity (QC) is supporting the "Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Limb Fitting” project, implemented by the Restoring Hope Society (RHS) in Jordan and Gaza.
The initiative seeks to help children who have undergone amputations regain mobility and gradually resume their daily lives with dignity, confidence, and hope.
Currently being implemented in Jordan, the project provides comprehensive rehabilitation services for children whose injuries have resulted in the loss of one or more limbs.
Through an integrated treatment plan that brings together medical care, physiotherapy, psychosocial support, and prosthetic limb fitting, the project helps strengthen children’s independence and supports their reintegration into family and community life.
He noted that such high-impact initiatives go beyond meeting urgent medical needs, helping beneficiaries rebuild self-confidence and move toward a more stable future for themselves and their families.
RHS director-general Bilal al-Abbasi said the project forms part of an integrated response targeting injured people and amputees affected by the war, many of whom have lost access to mobility and appropriate rehabilitation services.
He added that implementing the project in Jordan, together with the provision of prosthetic limbs and follow-up care, complements the society’s work in Gaza and helps ensure continuity of support for beneficiaries after their return.
The RHS stressed that the project is more than a medical intervention; it is a comprehensive humanitarian pathway to rebuilding the lives of injured children.
This support builds on the efforts of the QC’s office in Jordan, which has worked since 2021 in partnership with the Jordanian government and civil society organisations to implement a range of humanitarian and development programmes.
These include social welfare, sponsorships for orphans and low-income families, emergency response for communities affected by humanitarian crises, economic empowerment projects, and other key interventions.
In co-operation with its partners, Qatar Charity continues to back initiatives that place people at the centre of humanitarian action and promote sustainable solutions that enable individuals, especially children, to overcome the impact of crises and reclaim their right to a dignified, safe life filled with hope and opportunity.
