Ashghal advances sustainability through recycling of construction waste
The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has achieved significant sustainability milestones across its building projects since 2022 by implementing an integrated system to manage, reuse, and recycle millions of tonnes of construction and demolition waste.
These efforts have enhanced resource efficiency, reduced waste generation, and promoted circular economy principles, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy.
As part of these efforts, Ashghal has reused or transferred approximately 2.5mn cubic metres of excavation materials to the recycling yards of Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC), in addition to recycling more than 300,000 tonnes of construction and demolition waste.
In addition, nearly 8,000 tonnes of food waste have been recovered by converting them into organic compost or processing them at dedicated treatment facilities.
