HH the Amir, Burnham mull strategic ties, Iraq SJC president visits Doha
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani received Sunday a telephone call from British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, who expressed his sincere condolences on the demise of His Highness the late Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.
HH the Amir expressed his gratitude for the heartfelt sentiments and congratulated the prime minister on assuming office, wishing him success and further development and growth in bilateral relations.
Furthermore, discussion during the call, focused on strategic co-operation between the two friendly countries and ways to support and develop it across various fields. His Highness praised the strength of these historical relations, which serve their mutual interests and enhance the existing partnership.
The two sides also discussed the latest regional updates, particularly the developments in the Gaza Strip, as well as the diplomatic efforts to reduce escalation and consolidate security in the Middle East region. Both leaders stressed the importance of continuing dialogue and diplomacy to address regional issues and support international efforts aimed at consolidating peace.
Meanwhile, HH the Amir received President of the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq Dr Faiq Zidan, at his office at Lusail Palace last morning.
He extended his condolences to His Highness on the passing of HH the Late Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, praying to Almighty Allah to encompass HH the Late Father Amir with His vast mercy and grant him a place in His spacious Paradise. HH the Amir expressed his thanks and appreciation to Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council president for his sincere condolences and kind sympathy.
