Maizbhandari Blood Donors Group holds blood donation drive in honour of HH the late Father Amir
A blood donation campaign was held in Qatar in memory of His Highness the late Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and to mark the bicentennial birth anniversary of Gawsul Azam Hazrat Syed Ahmad Ullah Maizbhandari (K).
The humanitarian initiative, organised by the Maizbhandari Shah Emdadia Blood Donors Group, Qatar Unit, with the support and co-organisation of the Qatar National Blood Donation Centre, took place on July 23 from 1pm to 9pm. This was the group's seventh consecutive blood donation campaign in Qatar.
The programme was chaired by Alhaj Shah Sufi Syed Irfanul Haque Maizbhandari, managing trustee and chairman of the Darul Irfan Research Institute (DIRI), Nayeb Sajjadanashin, and Montazeme Darbar. The chief guest was Shoaib Ahmed, First Secretary (Labour) at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Doha.
Special Guests included Alhaj Syedul Haque Khan, managing director of Khan Agro Group; Aulad-e-Gawsul Azam Shahzada Syed Erham Hossain; and Shahzada Syed Manawar Hossain.
Among others present were Mohammad Sohel Chowdhury, vice president of the Central Committee of the Maizbhandari Shah Emdadia Blood Donors Group; Kazi Zahir Uddin Babar, general secretary of Anjuman-e-Mottabeyeen-e-Gawse Maizbhandari (Shah Emdadia), Qatar Branch; Habibur Rahman, convener of the Blood Donors Group Qatar Unit; Sajjadul Haque, member secretary; and other members and volunteers of the organisation.
In his presidential address, Alhaj Shah Sufi Syed Irfanul Haque Maizbhandari thanked Qatar National Blood Donation Centre and the Maizbhandari Shah Emdadia Blood Donors Group, Qatar Unit, for successfully organising the event. He also reaffirmed the organisation's commitment to continuing such humanitarian initiatives in the future for the welfare of humanity.
The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from Bangladeshi expatriates as well as people from different communities and professions living in Qatar.
According to the organisers, the campaign successfully collected a total of 234 units of blood and 17 units of plasma/platelets. They expressed hope that this significant humanitarian contribution would play an important role in supporting Qatar's healthcare system and help save many lives.
