World leaders mourn the passing of HH the Father Amir, honouring his enduring legacy

Leaders from across the Middle East, Asia and beyond have expressed their condolences following the passing of His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, paying tribute to his leadership, legacy and contributions to Qatar's development while offering their sympathies to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Al Thani family and the people of Qatar.

 

President of Lebanon General Joseph Aoun described the passing of HH the Father Amir as "a profound loss for the sisterly State of Qatar, Lebanon and the Arab world," expressing his deep grief and sorrow over the loss.

 

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he "deeply mourned the passing" of HH the Father Amir, describing Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani as "a visionary leader who led Qatar to great levels of development and prosperity." Modi also recalled meeting the Father Amir during his visit to Qatar in 2024 and conveyed his sincere condolences to HH the Amir, the Royal Family and the people of Qatar.

 

President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan offered "sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy" to HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the people of Qatar, praying that Allah grant the late Father Amir His vast mercy, admit him into Paradise, and grant patience and solace to his family and the Qatari people.

 

Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim extended his deepest condolences to HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatari Royal Family and the people of Qatar. He paid tribute to the late Father Amir's transformative leadership, saying Sheikh Hamad had turned Qatar into "a nation of global significance" during his 18 years as Amir, achieving remarkable economic progress and elevating the country's influence in regional and international affairs. Anwar also described the Father Amir as "a steadfast friend of Malaysia and a respected figure across the Muslim world."

 

President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said he learned "with great sorrow" of the passing of the Father Amir, recalling their close cooperation during his tenure as Prime Minister. Erdoğan credited Sheikh Hamad with playing a major role in strengthening the political, commercial, military, humanitarian and cultural ties between Türkiye and Qatar, while praising his sincere efforts to promote peace across the Islamic world, regional stability and the welfare of the Qatari people. He extended condolences to HH the Amir, the Al Thani family, the people of Qatar and the wider Islamic world.

 

President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi conveyed his deepest condolences and sympathies to the Amir, government and people of Qatar, praying that Allah envelop the late Father Amir in His vast mercy while continuing to bless Qatar with security and stability.

 

Prime Minister of Pakistan HE Shehbaz Sharif said he was "deeply saddened by the passing" of HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, describing the Father Amir as "a great leader and statesman whose wisdom, foresight and dedication transformed Qatar into a modern, prosperous and globally respected nation." He said the Father Amir's contributions to regional peace, development and international cooperation would be remembered for generations, while extending heartfelt condolences to HH the Amir, the Al Thani family, the Government and people of Qatar. Sharif also said Pakistan stood in solidarity with Qatar during this period of mourning and remembered the late Father Amir's warmth, kindness and deep affection for Pakistan.
