Minister of State at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Meets Syrian Foreign Minister

HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi met with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic Asaad Al-Shaibani in Damascus on Saturday.The meeting reviewed cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them, particularly in the political and economic fields, in addition to a number of issues of common concern.

The two sides also touched on the progress made on the chemical weapons file in light of the existing partnership between the State of Qatar and the Syrian Arab Republic, which supports the implementation of relevant obligations and enhances cooperation with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

During the meeting, HE the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the State of Qatar's full support for Syria and its active contribution to all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people for development and prosperity.

Following the meeting, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar and the Syrian Arab Republic signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the fields of diplomatic studies and training.

The MoU was signed on behalf of Qatar by HE the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and on behalf of Syria by HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates. (QNA)
