His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani held separate talks Saturday with visiting Libyan and Syrian officials, reaffirming Qatar's support for the unity and sovereignty of both countries.
He met Prime Minister of Libya's Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, who is visiting Qatar.
They reviewed co-operation between the two countries and ways to support and develop it, and discussed the latest regional developments. The prime minister reaffirmed Qatar's firm support for Libya's unity and for the Libyan people's aspirations for stability and development, along with its full backing for the Libyan political process, relevant Security Council resolutions and all peaceful solutions that preserve Libya's sovereignty.
He also met Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria Asaad al-Shaibani, who is visiting the country. They reviewed bilateral co-operation and ways to enhance it, as well as the latest developments in Syria and issues of mutual concern.
The prime minister reaffirmed Qatar's support for the unity, sovereignty and independence of Syria, and for the Syrian people's aspirations to live in dignity and build a state based on institutions and the rule of law. He also reaffirmed Qatar's support for efforts to rebuild, reconstruct and stabilise Syria.
