Qatar participates in GCC transport ministers' extraordinary committee meeting
The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Transport, took part in the 29th extraordinary meeting of the Committee of Transport Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, held via videoconference.
The State of Qatar was represented at the meeting by HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Ibrahim Al Maadheed.
The participants discussed the implementation of the directives of the GCC country leaders during the 19th consultative meeting in Jeddah with relation to joint GCC projects.
The meeting also reviewed a number of topics that enhance cooperation among the GCC countries in transportation, including updates on the implementation of the GCC Railway Project, the steps and executive measures taken with respect to enhancing the logistical integration and the progress made in this regard, and providing additional options for the GCC countries to transport their goods and products.
The meeting also reviewed the challenges and opportunities that GCC countries encounter with regard to the integrated projects of the transportation and logistics industry. It also discussed ways to make customs and border procedures simpler, activate alternative transportation routes, and enhance logistical connectivity between ports, border hubs and economic zones, in addition to supporting the using of modern technologies and uniform digital systems to speed up clearance, inspection and tracking procedures, as well as several other topics on maritime transportation and ports to enhance GCC integration and logistic services and transportation system efficiency.
