Katara Cultural Village transformed into a vibrant hub of celebration on the first day of Eid al-Adha, blending heritage performances, family entertainment, and large-scale cultural shows in an atmosphere filled with joy and national pride.
The renowned cultural destination came alive with a diverse programme that attracted visitors of all ages and nationalities, further reinforcing its status as one of Qatar’s premier venues for cultural and recreational experiences during major public holidays.
At the heart of the festivities along Katara Corniche, traditional Ardah performances set the tone for the celebrations. The rhythmic chants and synchronised movements captivated audiences, reviving elements of Qatari heritage and offering visitors a vivid connection to the nation’s cultural identity.
One of the most popular highlights of the Eid programme was the distribution of "Katara Eid gifts", a long-standing tradition that brought joy to children and families alike. The initiative created memorable moments for younger visitors, who gathered enthusiastically to receive gifts in a lively and welcoming atmosphere.
Families attending the celebrations praised the organisation and diversity of activities, noting that Katara successfully combined entertainment with cultural authenticity. Many said the Eid gift initiative has become a highly anticipated annual tradition, particularly among children who associate it with excitement and festive celebrations.
Visitors also commended Katara for providing a safe and family-friendly environment that encourages social interaction while preserving cultural values. The balance between modern event organisation and traditional identity was widely viewed as a key factor behind the strong public turnout. Adding a sense of grandeur to the festivities, a military-style parade featuring coordinated marches and ceremonial music drew significant attention from visitors and photographers, creating a striking visual spectacle along the waterfront.
From the second day of Eid, Katara will continue its celebrations with educational and entertainment programmes at the Al Thuraya Planetarium. The planetarium will host three daily space-themed shows at 5pm, 6pm, and 7pm, taking audiences on immersive journeys through stars, planets, and the mysteries of the universe.
Known for combining science with interactive learning, the planetarium remains one of Katara’s major attractions, especially for families and young visitors seeking both education and entertainment in an engaging setting.
The evening concluded with a spectacular fireworks display at 8.30pm, illuminating the Doha skyline with vibrant colours. Families gathered along the Corniche to watch the dazzling show, which provided a dramatic finale to the first day of Eid celebrations.
