Qatar and the Republic of Korea discussed bilateral co-operation and opportunities for collaboration in strategic projects, as well as strengthening and developing partnerships, particularly in trade and investment, during an official visit by a delegation to Seoul led by HE the Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Sayed.
The delegation was in South Korea to explore co-operation opportunities in strategic projects and enhance bilateral partnerships, especially in artificial intelligence (AI), advanced industries, and technology.
During the visit, HE Dr al-Sayed held a meeting with Korean Prime Minister Kim Min-seok to address bilateral relations and ways to further strengthen them in trade and investment, along with other topics of mutual interest.
The minister also held a series of meetings with senior Korean officials, including the Special Envoy of the President of Korea and Presidential Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and Information and Communications Technology Bae Kyung-hoon, Minister of Trade Yeo Han-koo, and Minister of Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises and Startups Han Seong-sook.
The meetings also touched on co-operation between the two countries and explored ways to expand it in trade and investment, as well as in advanced industries such as AI, semiconductors, and biotechnology.
This comes as a follow-up to the outcomes of Kang’s visit to Qatar last month, with both sides emphasising the importance of expanding strategic investment co-operation.
HE Dr al-Sayed also met with chief executives of Korean technology companies to explore co-operation opportunities, develop joint projects, and enhance their presence in the Qatar market.
