QRCS’s Hakeem platform ‘enhances medical service delivery to workers’
The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has announced a significant improvement in patient flow and healthcare service efficiency following the launch of its digital platform "Hakeem”, designed to reduce waiting times and streamline procedures across worker-focused health centres.
The platform, introduced last month, reflects Qatar’s broader commitment to advancing digital transformation within the healthcare sector.
In an interview with Qatar TV, Ahmed Saud Jassim, the administrative and financial affairs director at the QRCS’s Medical Affairs Department, said the platform has already begun delivering measurable operational improvements.
He noted that it plays a key role in managing the high volume of patients, with more than 5,000 daily visits across QRCS-operated facilities.
Jassim described "Hakeem” as a qualitative leap in healthcare delivery, enabling patients to access a wide range of medical services remotely, significantly reducing the need for in-person visits.
He added that the platform simplifies procedures and directly helps shorten waiting times and ease congestion in health centres, ultimately enhancing the quality of care.
The platform serves as an integrated digital gateway, allowing users to perform multiple services with ease.
These include booking medical appointments, accessing health records, obtaining prescriptions, issuing sick leave certificates, and viewing diagnoses and radiology reports.
Digitising these processes has substantially reduced reliance on paper-based transactions while simplifying the patient journey.
Patients arriving with pre-booked appointments can proceed directly to clinics or specialists without lengthy administrative steps, as the system guides and organises their visit according to scheduled timelines.
Additionally, the platform enables the issuance of electronic prescriptions immediately after consultations and offers digital payment options, further improving convenience and saving patients time and effort.
The first phase of "Hakeem” targets male workers, particularly individual labourers, who represent the primary beneficiaries of QRCS healthcare services.
The organisation currently operates four health centres dedicated to this group under a co-operation agreement with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), and manages a large ambulance fleet and provides specialised healthcare training services.
Jassim confirmed that future plans include expanding the platform to cover broader segments of society and introducing additional services, reinforcing its role as a comprehensive digital healthcare tool.
He also noted that "Hakeem” is directly integrated with the MoPH’s centralised medical records system, ensuring seamless data exchange and co-ordination among healthcare providers nationwide.
On data security, he stressed that the platform adheres to the highest international cybersecurity standards, including ISO 27001 certification.
Access is secured through integration with the national authentication system, ensuring that only authorised users can access the platform while maintaining the confidentiality and protection of sensitive health data.
The QRCS’s health centres for workers – in Messaimeer, Fereej Abdulaziz, Al Humaidah and Zekreet – collectively receive more than 1mn patient visits annually.
