QR40mn raised in three hours during the ‘27th Night Challenge’
Qatar Charity expresses gratitude to supporters of “Warding off Calamity” campaign
Qatar Charity’s "27th Night Challenge” has raised more than QR40mn in just three hours despite the exceptional circumstances, with the funds set to support life-saving medical initiatives in several countries, including Qatar.
The initiative was held under the theme "Warding off Calamity” on Sunday from 9pm to midnight, coinciding with the 27th night of Ramadan.
Qatar Charity and its partners thanked generous individuals, companies, and banks for their strong support of the initiative. It became the largest fundraising event on YouTube Live, broadcast through the Al Ghafri YouTube channel (QQQ) and Qatar Charity’s channel, in partnership with Mirsal Qatar.
Qatar Charity prayed to Allah to accept the contributions of all partners, donors, and supporters, making their generosity a source of protection and well-being for them, their families, and their communities during these challenging times. The organisation also expressed its appreciation for their trust and for the collective efforts of partners, social media influencers, digital platforms, media outlets, and supporting medical centres.
The "Warding off Calamity” campaign received support from numerous benefactors, alongside institutions and companies, including Ooredoo, Qatar Islamic Bank, Qatar National Bank, Al Rayan Bank, Ahli Bank, Dukhan Bank, Doha Bank, Alfardan Corporation, Mowasalat, Al Jaber Group, Hazm Mall, Katara Cultural Village, Snoonu Qatar, Banquet Hospitality, Essa Al Sulaiti Law Firm, and Hand & Stone.
The list of supporters also included Oakberry, Sugar and Spice, Single Bani, Canteen, Bold Cafe, Karak Marmi, and Khadeer Tea. Support also came from digital platforms including Al-Thuraya, Al Zubarah, Mjhar, Msheireb, Marsad Qatar, Marsad Football, Islami Marsad, Ahal Qatar, Elan, and Elan Deco.
The "27th Night Challenge” was held this year under the theme "Warding off Calamity”, with media participation from influencer Abdullah al‑Ghafri and Dr Abdulrahman al‑Harami, who drove community engagement and mobilised donations during the event. They were joined by several influencers, doctors, digital platforms, and supporting medical centres.
This year, the ‘27th Night Challenge’ placed special emphasis on the health sector in response to the rising number of critical cases requiring urgent treatment in countries with high need. The health initiatives to be supported include open-heart surgeries and the correction of congenital heart defects in children, along with the treatment of eye diseases and surgeries that restore sight. They also cover cochlear implants for children with hearing loss, helping them hear and communicate, as well as the treatment of severe malnutrition in children. In addition, medical interventions will be carried out within Qatar to support patients with chronic illnesses and critical health conditions. Together, these efforts aim to save lives and create new stories of recovery.
Overall, the "27th Night Challenge” aims to carry out approximately 6,770 surgeries, in addition to providing malnutrition treatment and supporting cancer patients within Qatar — impacting thousands of people and their families.
