Ramadan holds a profound place in family and community life for many Pakistanis, as it is marked by extended-family gatherings at Iftar, recitation of the Holy Qur'an at home, and the spiritually uplifting atmosphere in mosques during Taraweeh prayers, according to Pakistani ambassador Muhammad Aamer.
He noted that the call to prayer at sunset carries a special emotional significance, signalling the moment when neighbourhoods collectively prepare to break their fast.
A strong sense of social solidarity also distinguishes Ramadan in Pakistan, as households remain open to guests, food is generously shared, and charitable acts are widely practised humbly and discreetly. In these daily moments, the values of faith, compassion, and community become visible parts of everyday life.
He pointed out that such traditions often accompany Pakistanis wherever they live or work abroad.
Many continue to preserve the spiritual essence of Ramadan by maintaining regular congregational prayers, dedicating time to reflection and reciting the Holy Qur'an, and participating in charitable activities.
In places such as Doha, community iftars frequently bring together members of the Pakistani community alongside friends and colleagues from different nationalities, reinforcing social ties and fostering mutual understanding. In such settings, Ramadan becomes both a spiritual anchor and a bridge that connects cultures and communities.
The ambassador stressed that Qatar’s Ramadan atmosphere is widely recognised for its sense of dignity, tranquillity, and generosity. Respect for the sanctity of the holy month is clearly reflected in public life, while widespread charitable initiatives and community programs demonstrate a strong commitment to humanitarian values. He said that what makes the Ramadan experience in Qatar particularly distinctive is the country’s ability to preserve authentic traditions while embracing the realities of a multicultural society.
He explained that in a nation that hosts people from many cultures and nationalities, Ramadan often becomes a powerful symbol of coexistence and shared humanity. Community iftars, charitable campaigns, and public events bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds, reflecting a broader national approach based on dialogue, respect, and peaceful coexistence.
