The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) has announced a major concert featuring iconic symphonic works to be held at the Katara Opera House on February 7 at 7.30pm under the baton of internationally acclaimed conductor Pablo Mielgo.The programme opens with Johannes Brahms’ Variations on a Theme by Haydn, a work celebrated for its elegance and structural refinement, highlighting the orchestra’s tonal richness and precision.The spotlight then shifts to QPO principal oboist German Díaz Blanco, who will appear as soloist in Richard Strauss’s Oboe Concerto in D major, TRV 292.Known for its lyrical charm and technical brilliance, the concerto unfolds seamlessly across three interconnected movements, exemplifying Strauss’s mastery of dialogue between soloist and orchestra.The evening culminates with Ludwig van Beethoven’s revolutionary Symphony No. 3, Eroica, a landmark composition that reshaped the symphonic form and expanded its emotional and thematic scope.Led by Concertmaster Joo Young Oh, the QPO will bring the work’s dramatic intensity and expressive depth to life, offering audiences a powerful interpretation of one of the most enduring pillars of the orchestral repertoire.Â
