The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Alumni Association Qatar (Amuaaq) celebrated Sir Syed Day 2025. The event witnessed the launch of Indian author and researcher Atif Hanif’s latest book, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): Timeless Role Model of Humanity, Leadership & Peace – Global Insights from Non-Muslim Sources. Amuaaq chairman Jawed Ahmad described the event as "a special occasion that coincides with the launch of a globally significant work highlighting the universal values taught by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).” For his exceptional contributions to the Aligarh Movement, Hanif was conferred the 'Aligarian of the Year' award. Dr Nadeem Jilani announced that this year marked the 208th birth celebrations of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, a reformer, educationist, and founder of AMU. The programme was presided over by Indian ambassador Vipul with Iqra Hasan Choudhary (Member of Parliament, India) as the chief guest. Hanif and Dr Ata Khursheed (assistant librarian, AMU) were honoured for their contributions to education and literature. Hanif’s newly launched book is described as the first-of-its-kind to compile testimonies about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from non-Muslim historians, thinkers, and scholars. Inspired by the 1500th Birth Commemorations of the Prophet (PBUH), the book presents an analysis of his character, leadership, and universal message of peace and humanity. Speaking at the launch, Hanif expressed gratitude to Amuaaq for selecting Sir Syed Day as the platform for the release. "Sir Syed Day embodies the spirit of knowledge and progress. It is a fitting platform to launch a book that highlights how Prophet Muhammad’s example transcends boundaries and continues to inspire humanity,” he added. The event brought together alumni, diplomats, academics, and community members, reflecting on Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s enduring legacy of enlightenment and reform, while also commemorating the Prophet’s (PBUH) global influence as a timeless model of leadership and peace.
