HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani yesterday held telephone conversations with his Saudi, Jordanian, and Syrian counterparts, urging all parties to commit to dialogue and diplomacy and to implement what had been agreed upon in the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran — including the guarantee of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.The prime minister spoke first with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah al-Saud. They reviewed avenues for deepening and expanding bilateral co-operation between the two countries, along with the latest regional developments, particularly the ongoing diplomatic efforts and close coordination aimed at de-escalating tensions and reinforcing security and stability across the region.In a separate call with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, the prime minister canvassed the same ground — expanding bilateral ties and coordinating on regional de-escalation efforts.He also spoke with the Syrian foreign minister, with the two sides reviewing bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them, alongside the latest regional developments and joint coordination aimed at de-escalation and bolstering regional security and stability.In each of the three conversations, the prime minister underscored the imperative for all parties to adhere to dialogue and diplomacy and to implement the terms reached under the US-Iran MoU, including the guarantee of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz — a step, he said, that is essential to safeguarding regional security, preserving the gains achieved so far, and reinforcing stability.He reiterated Qatar's full support for all efforts aimed at defusing tensions and reaching a comprehensive agreement that secures lasting peace in the region.
