Katara Cultural Village, in co-operation with the Egyptian embassy in Qatar, organised a tasting event, celebrating the masterpieces of Egyptian cuisine and its rich heritage.The event was attended by Katara general manager Prof Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti and Egyptian ambassador Walid Fahmy al-Faqi, as well as other ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps in Qatar, among other guests.Attendees enjoyed a unique tasting experience featuring koshari — Egypt’s most famous traditional dish, celebrated across the Arab world.Prof Dr al-Sulaiti said Katara seeks, through such events, to promote cultural dialogue and human connection among nations, considering cuisine an integral part of cultural identity and civilisational heritage.Al-Faqi thanked Katara for its continuous support and efforts in showcasing Egyptian culture, saying: "We are delighted with this initiative, which allows us to highlight an aspect of Egyptian culture represented by our rich cuisine. We look forward to more joint events that reflect the depth of the fraternal relations between Egypt and Qatar.”Koshari is one of the most popular dishes in Egypt and regarded as one of the most prominent symbols of Egyptian identity par excellence. The dish combines simplicity and diversity, having originated in the 19th century with roots among Egypt’s working classes. It soon became a national favourite that brought together all social classes.
