The Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Qatar organized on Wednesday morning in Doha the 1st edition of a speech competition titled "My China-Qatar Story" with the participation of some of the employees of Chinese-funded enterprises in Qatar. The event provided a considerable number of Chinese and non-Chinese (mostly Arab and Asian) employees an active platform to share their personal and professional experiences about working for some Chinese companies in Qatar and how this has introduced them to new culture of work and human relations in both Qatar and China. Some spoke in Chinese, others spoke in English and some participants gave their speeches in Arabic. The event was attended by the Chinese Ambassador to Doha Cao Xiaolin; Wang Weichao, General Manager of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) Doha Branch and a representative of the Chinese business community in Qatar and other Chinese officials and representatives of Chinese companies in Qatar.
"This competition is a truly meaningful event. All the companies and participants have made thorough preparations, and the stories you shared were wonderful—some deeply moving, others filled with positivity and inspiration. The competition was exciting and engaging," said the Chinese ambassador addressing the participants. He added: "Your stories are miniature portraits of the joint efforts made by all employees of Chinese enterprises in Qatar to strengthen the friendship between China and Qatar. It can be said that this competition helps promote mutual understanding and deepen friendship. I also express my sincere respect and appreciation for your contributions to fostering friendly cooperation between China and Qatar."He further stressed that "the friendly exchanges between China and the Arab world are deeply rooted in history. Over a thousand years ago, China and the Arab countries came to know each other through the ancient Silk Road, forming a spirit of friendship characterized by solidarity mutual assistance, equality and mutual benefit, and comprehensiveness. At the first China–Arab States Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in December 2022, President Xi Jinping and Arab leaders agreed to carry forward the spirit of China–Arab friendship and to work hand in hand toward building a China–Arab community with a shared future in the new era."In the meantime, he noted that "the friendship between the Chinese and Qatari peoples continues to grow stronger. Cultural and people-to-people exchanges between our two countries are expanding steadily. The employees of Chinese enterprises present today come from China, Qatar, and other countries, and all of you work diligently in your fields, contributing to the promotion of friendship and the continuation of the bond between China and Qatar."**pullquote**
