Qatar National Library (QNL) is set to host a special panel discussion titled "From Reading to Leading: Building a Culture of Lifelong Leadership” next Wednesday at the library’s Special Events Area.
The session is organised as part of the Qatar Reads initiative, in partnership with Qatar Leadership Centre.
The programme will bring together all four QLC modules in one day and welcomes around 120 Qatari leaders. It will spotlight the role of reading in leadership.
The discussion aims to highlight the pivotal role of reading in shaping and developing leadership skills.
It will explore several key themes, including the role of reading in enhancing leadership mindsets, the presentation of findings from the Read and Rise research study, and a spotlight on the One Book, One Community campaign. It will also draw leadership insights from the classical Arabic literary work Maqamat Al-Hariri, complemented by a musical performance inspired by the text, presented by Qatar Music Academy.
Among the distinguished speakers are HE the Minister of State and President of Qatar National Library, Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kawari; and Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Leadership Centre, HE Sheikh Dr Abdullah bin Ali bin Saud al-Thani.
The panel will also feature author Dr Muhammad al-Mukhtar al-Shinqiti, who will share a success story inspired by Maqamat Al-Hariri.
Shaikha al-Waadani from Qatar Foundation will present the findings of the Read and Rise study, while Munis Mheidat, also from Qatar Foundation, will deliver a presentation on Maqamat Al-Hariri.
Following the discussion, participants will take part in a guided tour that includes the Maqamat Al-Hariri exhibition, the Heritage Library, the Preservation and Conservation Center, the Main Library, and the Children’s Library. This immersive experience aims to foster cultural and intellectual engagement among the next generation of Qatari leaders.
