The Palestinian Foreign Ministry affirmed its continued political, diplomatic, and international legal efforts to mobilize the broadest international pressure front to halt the crimes of genocide, displacement, and annexation that the Israeli occupation has been committing. It is building on the UN declaration of a real famine in the Gaza Strip, urging states and the international community to assume their legal and moral responsibilities to put an end to it.The famine in the Gaza Strip is not natural or resulting from a scarcity of resources, the ministry said in a statement, stressing that it is a deliberate policy of the Israeli occupation that falls within the framework of committing the crimes of using starvation as a war weapon. The international failure to immediately halt the famine undermines the moral foundations of states and the international community, especially given the conviction among relevant UN organizations and their demands that humanitarian considerations should not be subjected to political considerations and interests, the ministry added. The statement warned of the risks of reoccupying Gaza City and its disastrous consequences, including the intensifying of genocide and famine, and its expansion to include the collapse of the foundations of life for more than 2 million Palestinian civilians in the strip. The Palestinian Foreign Ministry concluded its statement by calling for decisive international action and binding practical arrangements to save lives in the Gaza Strip, and for the necessary courage to confront the Israeli occupation's disregard for the international consensus to halt genocide, displacement, starvation, and annexation, stressing that halting these crimes is a distinctly international responsibility.
