Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som, Qatar’s largest wellness destination, hosted a mangrove planting event in collaboration with the Thai embassy, in its capacity as chair of the Asean Committee in Doha (ACD) for 2025.The initiative underscores the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean)’s shared commitment to environmental sustainability and supports Qatar’s ongoing efforts in mangrove conservation, a statement said.The event brought together diplomats and representatives from Asean member states, including: ambassadors Sira Swangsilpa (Thailand), Mohamed Bahrim Abu Baker (Brunei Darussalam), Ridwan Hassan (Indonesia), Pong Kok Tian (Singapore), and Nguyen Huy Hiep (Vietnam), with charges d'affaires Maryam Masyitah Ahmad Termizi (Malaysia) and Cassandra B Sawadjaan (Philippines).The gathering highlighted the importance of ecological preservation with participants planting mangroves, a vital natural resource for coastal protection, carbon sequestration, and biodiversity."Just as mangroves create vital ecosystems, we believe in fostering connections – between people, nature, and sustainable living,” said Zulal Wellness Resort general manager Ammar Samad.
