Qatar participated in the Mobile World Congress (MWC Barcelona 2025), which kicked off Monday in Barcelona, Spain, and will continue until March 6, under the theme ‘Converge. Connect. Create.’The Qatari delegation participating in the conference includes representatives from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Qatar Tourism and the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar (Invest Qatar).This participation aims to shed light on investment opportunities in the digital sector, enhance Qatar’s position as a destination for modern technology, and to build strategic partnerships with global companies.The MWC is one of the largest global events in the communications and information technology sector, bringing together a group of industry leaders, experts, and decision-makers to discuss the future of digital technology and the opportunities available to enhance communication and digital innovation globally.The conference is expected to witness the announcement of an important partnership between Qatar and the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMA), which will boost the country’s position in the fields of economy and digital transformation.This year’s conference focuses on six main topics that shape the future of the ICT sector: 5G within networks, which explores the development of 5G networks; smart connectivity, which focuses on Internet of Things solutions; and advanced AI, which deals with AI applications.It also highlights the reinvention of institutions that reflects the adoption of modern technologies by institutions and companies, and future technologies that pave the way for rapid transformations in the digital landscape such as quantum computing, extended reality, AI, and finally digital identity that focuses on sustainability and digital inclusion.The Qatari delegation will have the opportunity to learn about the latest developments and discuss ways of co-operation with leading companies in the communications and information technology sector.On Qatar’s participation in MWC Barcelona 2025, Director of Digital Society and Digital Competencies Department at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Duha al-Buhendi, said that the country’s participation in MWC Barcelona 2025 comes within the framework of its commitment to promoting digital innovation, driving digital transformation, and building an advanced digital economy.The MWC is a platform that allows major global companies to showcase their latest innovations and future technologies in the fields of smartphones, communications, digital infrastructure, cloud technologies, and AI.
