HE Chair of the Executive Board of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco), Dr Nasser bin Hamad al-Henzab, commended the active role played by the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation in fostering and supporting the right to education globally, emphasising that education is a fundamental pillar for achieving international stability and peace. In his remarks during a graduation ceremony for young refugees at Sciences Po in France, he noted that the Foundation’s support for this programme aligns with its commitment to achieving the fourth UN Sustainable Development Goal, which focuses on quality education as a key driver for empowering individuals and communities and building a more sustainable future. He also highlighted Unesco’s commitment to continuing its co-operation with international initiatives that enhance the quality and continuity of education, particularly in conflict contexts, in line with the UN organisation’s strategy to protect education and support education systems in fragile situations. The ceremony was attended by Technical Director of Higher Education, Dr Amer Diaa, representing the EAA Foundation. During the event, Qatar’s leading role in supporting education internationally was highlighted, along with the emphasis on education’s contribution as a fundamental tool for peacebuilding and empowering youth affected by conflict. The ceremony honoured the graduates of the sixth cohort of the Professional Certificate Programme for Young Refugees. This programme targets students from conflict-affected areas around the world, enabling them to pursue their educational and professional paths and enhancing their academic and economic integration. The programme enjoys the support of several international partners, including the Education Above All Foundation, which has been a key partner for four years, reflecting its ongoing commitment to supporting equitable access to quality education, particularly for the most marginalised and crisis-affected groups.
