His Highness the Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, was the architect of Qatar's remarkable modernisation and fast development. Guided by a bold and forward-looking vision, he led profound transformations across the country's economic, political, cultural, sporting, media, and diplomatic sectors during his reign from 1995 to 2013. Driven by a steadfast determination to elevate his nation on the world stage, he pursued a visionary foreign policy that established the State of Qatar as a central international mediator and a key regional actor.His Highness the Father Amir also placed his ambition at the service of the exceptional friendship between France and Qatar. He was a driving force in deepening a bilateral relationship that has since grown into a strong and strategic partnership. His historic State Visit to France in 1999 gave a renewed momentum to a relationship of trust that continued to deepen over the years. Under his leadership, French-Qatari cooperation expanded across a wide range of fields, including defense, economy, energy, education, culture, sport, and investment, significantly deepening the strategic partnership that unites the two countries today."
