The Shura Council convened its regular weekly session here yesterday under the leadership of Speaker HE Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanem at the Tamim bin Hamad Hall. The Council examined a draft animal health law submitted by the government and referred it to the Health, Public Services, and Environment Committee for detailed study and recommendations.Members also reviewed the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee’s report on the government’s response to the Council’s proposal regarding national and foreign investment support. Additionally, the Council heard reports on two international parliamentary participations: Council Member Issa bin Ahmed al-Nasr’s attendance at the World Trade Organisation’s Public Forum in Geneva last September, and Khalid bin Abbas Kamal al-Emadi’s participation in the Sixth Expert Roundtable on Common Principles for Supporting Parliaments, organised virtually by the Inter-Parliamentary Union in December. Marking National Sport Day today, Speaker al-Ghanem emphasised the Council’s participation in the event and urged citizens and residents to embrace sports as a sustainable lifestyle, utilising Qatar’s advanced sports facilities to promote community health and well-being. Following the session, Council Member Mohammed bin Yousef al-Mana, Chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, detailed the government’s comprehensive approach to the Council’s investment proposals. These include evaluating the Third National Development Strategy, developing digital licensing through the “One-Stop Shop” platform, modernising investment legislation, and reducing service fees by over 90%. Student council members from three boys’ secondary schools attended the session as observers.
