Education ministry programme set to upskill public school leaders

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has announced the launch of a programme to develop the skills of public school leaders.The training begins on Sept 24 and will continue until Feb 2024.Director of the Training and Development Center at the MoEHE Iman Salman al-Mohannadi said that MoEHE specifically the Training and Development Center, is working to develop the skills of all members of the educational field to achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Human Development Pillar.Al-Mohannadi stressed the importance of the role of school leadership in improving student learning and creating a school environment conducive to learning, and added that the idea of the programme emerged to train a number of school leaders in co-operation with the Qatar Leadership Center (QLC) and Harvard University, one of the most prestigious universities in the US.She explained that the programme targets Qatari principals and academic deputies of both genders in 45 primary, middle and secondary government schools. The training modules are designed and prepared at Harvard University, and will be presented by a group of lecturers, including the head of the Harvard Graduate School of Studies.She stated that the programme will provide field educational experiences and seven training modules, of which five will be offered in Qatar and two in the US. The trainee will receive a certificate (without a degree) from Harvard University. (QNA)
