Sheikh Hamad elected vice-president of Union of Arab Football Associations

HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Thani, Honorary President of the Qatar Football Association (QFA), was unanimously elected as vice-president of the Union of Arab Football Associations (for the continent of Asia) at the 27th Arab Football Federation general assembly in Taif, Saudi Arabia.The meeting was presided over by Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Faisal, the President of the Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA). In attendance were Mohamed al-Suwaidi, Vice-President of QFA, and Mansoor al-Ansari, Secretary-General of QFA. During the meeting, al-Faisal commended the member federations for their substantial contributions to the advancement of football across different domains. Additionally, he extended congratulations to all participants on the success of the ongoing King Salman Cup.The delegates of the various member associations examined and approved the minutes of the preceding General Assembly. The Executive Committee also gave the General Assembly a report on everything that had happened inside the Federation since their previous meeting; this included competitions, administrative actions, training and officiating courses, and seminars covering a wide range of topics. The General Assembly then reviewed the financial statements of the federation (2021 and 2022) in addition to proposing amendments to the articles of the federation’s framework statute.It’s worth mentioning that in February, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Thani was chosen as a member of the FIFA Council, the highest decision-making authority in international football.
