Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKUP) has received three honours at the 2023 Purple Dragonfly Awards, where Rima Ismail’s book "Anger” won in the picture books category. Suha Abu Shakra's book "I Wish I Knew” and Basma al-Khatib's "Could the Stars Stay Bright” also received honourable mentions in the category of best illustrations.The Purple Dragonfly Book Awards was established in 2009 to recognise and honour writers and illustrators for their outstanding creativity in children's literature. Awards are presented to the best-selling books in 56 separate and diverse categories, from environment to cooking, and from sports to family issues.Books winning the Purple Dragonfly Book Awards are required to be original, innovative and creative in their content and design, and to provide children with the best reading experience.The HBKUP was established in accordance with international best practices and in line with standards of excellence and innovation. To provide a unique local and international platform for literature, exploration, learning, and contribution to building the knowledge-based economy in Qatar. The house publishes novels, stories, and biographies for adults, adolescents, and children, in addition to educational and informative books for schools, academic books for universities and researchers, information and reference books. The house seeks to spread the love of reading and writing, to establish a vibrant literary culture in Qatar, the Arabian Gulf and the Arab countries, and to develop new talents.
