The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) has announced that seven of its academic programmes have obtained international accreditation from the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA), which is based in Germany.The seven programmes have applied for accreditation in three separate clusters, where the first was for the programmes of Philosophy, History, Linguistics, and Arabic Lexicography.The second included the Development Economics and Critical Security Studies programmes, and the third cluster had the programmes of Social Work and Psychology (both clinical and social).With this achievement, all DI programmes are now internationally accredited except for the journalism programme, which is following a specific accreditation track through a specialised American accreditation body, and the Human Rights programme as it was launched at DI only in 2020-2021.Dr Abdelwahab el-Affendi, president of DI, said:” The accredited programmes have met all the required international quality standards with some programmes exceeding the criteria requirements with exceptional results in areas like the Objectives of the Programme, its position in the educational market, the international orientation of the programme, the academic qualifications of faculty members, student diversity, partnership with other institutions, among other important standards.”Dr el-Affendi added that the review meetings with the accreditors had positive participation from all involved at the DI, for which he expressed his appreciation to all students, alumni, teachers, administrative staff, and stakeholders for their tremendous effort and constructive contributions to achieving such positive results.These results highlight collegiality and the spirit of excellence at DI and project the true spirit of dedication and devotion required for success and progress.He said the planned processes for international accreditation are now complete, but the journey of developing and strengthening the elements of quality assurance at the institute will continue.
