Qatar Special Olympics team will be participating in the Special Olympics Summer Games scheduled to be held in Berlin, Germany,from June 17-25. A total of 7,000 special athletes from 170 countries will be competing in 26 Olympic sports at the Games. The Qatari national team is being represented by five male and female athletes in roller skating, athletics and weightlifting. Mubarak al-Ahbabi and Shuaa al-Abdullah will participate in the 100 and 300 metres skating competitions while Hamad al-Ahbabi will be in action in the 30m straight skating and 30m slalom skating competitions. Jassim Fakhroo will take part in the 100m sprint and the long jump, while Mohamed al-Mahmoud will be competing in the push-button and 100m sprint. Hamad Jaber aims to excel in weightlifting. The Qatari delegation left for Berlin yesterday, which also includes coaches Ali Hudayb and Hessa al-Darwish (skating), Sasia Ahmed (athletics) and Mohamed al-Rizqi (weightlifting).
