The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) has admitted 11 students for the Ph.D. studies for the academic year 2023 – 2024 from more than 1983 applications received from across the world, a statement said.Qatari students have topped the list of admissions at 36%. Dr Mohamed al-Nawawi, director of the Board of Doctoral Studies at the DI, said the selection was based on competitive standards on the basis of academic merits following best practices in students’ assessment and acceptance criteria."The DI aims to train a generation of Qatari and Arab researchers, to enable them to pursue their postgraduate studies, in order to participate positively in the development of their communities," he said.The DI offers eight doctoral programmes for: Development Economics, Public Administration, Politics and International Relations, Linguistics and Arabic Lexicography, History, Sociology, Media Studies and Critical Security Studies.The classes will start on August 20 for the academic year 2023-2024. While applying for the next academic year 2024 – 2025 will start September 1."This will be the second cohort of PhD students as four students were enrolled last year as the first cohort," the statement added.
