Education ministry honours winners of student community outreach contest

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in co-operation with the US embassy in Doha, honoured the winning students and participants in the first student community outreach competition for speaking English in front of an audience, in addition to the English language teachers who supervised them.HE the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh al-Nuaimi and US ambassador to Qatar Timmy T Davis honoured the winners, participants and awarded them certificates of appreciation. Cups were also awarded to the top six students who won the competition.Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Maha al-Ruwaili noted that the competition represents an inspiring initiative in the learning journey as it aims to empower students, develop their skills in communication and public speaking, and to enhance their leadership capabilities to become more daring and masterful in the art of meeting and speaking with the public.She praised the strong partnership with the US embassy by supporting successful and distinguished educational programmes with great benefits.Al-Ruwaili affirmed the Ministry of Education's continued support for such initiatives that contribute to building the creative capabilities of the students and to help them identify new areas that play an important role in their future direction and interests, noting that the competition provides opportunities for students to share their inspiring stories.Ambassador Davis expressed his gratitude for the strong partnership with the Ministry of Education which strengthens relations between Qatari and American people, and stressed the importance of mastering the public speaking skill that requires confidence and inner strength.He stressed the importance of combating bullying in the student community outreach competition, while thanking all the participating teachers for their efforts and dedication in helping and supervising students.
