Qatar welcomed the joint statement issued by Saudi Arabia and the US on the start of initial talks between representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Jeddah.In a statement Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Qatar's aspiration that this step would pave the way for a permanent and comprehensive cessation of the military conflict, and then engagement in broad negotiations in which all Sudanese political forces participate in order to reach a comprehensive agreement and sustainable peace that achieves the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people for stability, development and prosperity.The ministry reaffirmed Qatar's position calling for an immediate halt to the fighting in Sudan, exercising maximum restraint, resorting to the voice of reason, giving priority to the public interest, sparing civilians the consequences of fighting, and facilitating the flow of humanitarian aid to those affected by the fighting.
