National Team for Child Protection against Violence organises awareness workshop

The National Team for Child Protection against Violence organised yesterday the third awareness workshop entitled "Better Together", at the National Service Academy, to educate children and adolescents from 10 to 18 years about their rights, duties, and proper upbringing.The programme was developed in collaboration among the entities concerned in Qatar and with the participation of social, educational, and mental experts specialised in this field.The team comprises of representatives from ministries and entities concerned with child protection in Qatar and established by the decision of the Minister of Public Health in 2021.Prof Khalid Mohammed al-Ansari, head of the National Team for Child Protection against Violence, pointed out that the workshop aims to educate children and adolescents on building a sound culture that is consistent with the religion and values and to protect them against the risks they are exposed to, which have been aggravated by the negative content on social media and lack of censorship."We are guided by Qatar National Vision 2030 and its goals, especially those related to the pillars of social and human development. Caring for children, protecting, and raising them properly based on religious and moral values requires hard work and co-operation between all concerned entities in Qatar, embracing innovations and developing best practices in this aspect.”Mohamed Yahya Taher, head of the Moral Guidance Department at the National Service Academy, explained the importance of the workshop in protecting young students, especially in this period of globalisation.Prof al-Ansari, also head of the Paediatric Emergency Department at Sidra Medicine, spoke about the stages of growth of both genders and the biological change. Abdulrahman al-Kadmani, a psychologist at the Behavioural Health Support Centre, spoke about the importance of fulfilling the societal duty by providing correct information to children and adolescents from reliable scientific sources.Fai al-Hajri, a social specialist at the Naufar; Muhammad Abdul Latif al-Nuaimi, family adviser at the Ministry of Endowment and Islamic Affairs; Dr Issa al-Horr, youth advisor at the Ministry of Culture and Youth; First Lieutenant Mohammed Abdullah al-Naama, officer of the Awareness and Information Section at the Juvenile Police Department and First Lieutenant Khalid al-Shammari, awareness officer in the Community Police of the Ministry of Interior also spoke at the event.The "Better Together” workshop discussed all information relevant to child protection services provided in Qatar, such as how to access them and the entities’ hotline numbers dedicated to answer inquiries and provide consultations.
