An earthquake measuring 4.9 magnitude on the Richter scale struck the Fiji Islands in the South Pacific on Thursday.The epicentre of the tremor occurred in the south of the Fiji Islands, at a depth of 85.9 km, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).There have been no reports of casualties or material losses due to the earthquake so far.The Fiji Islands are located in an area called the "Ring of Fire" in the Pacific Ocean, which is exposed to many tremors and aftershocks that may be strong at times.
