Qatar’s celebration of its National Day today is particularly important as it coincides with the final match of the greatest sporting spectacle on earth – the FIFA World Cup, which our country is proudly hosting.National Day is a great occasion where the people of Qatar show cohesion, solidarity and unity in their love for their homeland, loyalty to their ancestors and their unforgettable sacrifices.It is the day of pride in the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the leader of the process of achievements, development and a promising future.The slogan of Qatar National Day 2022, "Our Unity, Source of Our Strength,” quoted from a speech of His Highness the Amir is affirming the approach of cohesion, solidarity and unity of the people of Qatar to face challenges and achieve objectives.The major achievements that Qatar made in political, diplomatic, economic, sport, health and education among other areas reflect the unity and solidarity between the wise leadership and the loyal people, and draw a bright picture of the future of the state.Qatar has already made remarkable progress in achieving economic diversification in accordance with the determinants of Qatar National Development Strategy and Qatar National Manufacturing Strategy 2018-2022.The country’s gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to QR219.87bn in the second quarter of this year, an increase of 40.7% compared to the first quarter of 2022. The World Bank expects that Qatar economy would grow by about 4.9% in 2022.The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 has become a major incentive to support the achievement of the Qatar National Vision 2030, which is based on four pillars: environment, human, economic and social development.It has also inspired pathways to realise this vision through governance and its policies, with the end goal of promoting sustainability across the state.FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is the 22nd edition of international football’s showpiece event – and the first to take place in the entire Middle East.Also, Qatar is hosting the most compact edition of FIFA World Cup in modern history – all eight stadiums are within one hour’s drive of central Doha.Doha Metro has already become an "instant hit” with thousands of football fans from abroad and residing in Qatar. Excellent crowd management has ensured that football fans have had a safe and smooth travel experience.The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 has clearly raised excitement around the world. It has become a sporting spectacle to remember for everyone who has already made it and will make it to Qatar – as well as the billions glued to their TVs and smartphones around the world.For decades, hosting the World Cup was a distant dream – but now it has become a reality. Qatar’s hard work has indeed come to fruition and the country is now hosting an outstanding edition of the FIFA World Cup – one that will leave an important legacy for our country, the Middle East and globally.
