Wathnan Racing’s Sealine (Qatar) trained by Alban Elie De Mieulle was ridden to a prestigious Late Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani trophy by jockey Ronan Thomas by almost a head length in the 1500m feature of Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club’s (QREC) 20th race meeting on the turf of the Al Uqda racecourse, yesterday. HE Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali, Minister of Sports and Youth, crowned the winners of the Late Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani trophy. Ronan Thomas also rode Equinoxe (QA) to win for trainer Alban de Mieulle in the 2000m contest for 3YO+ local thoroughbreds, landing the Halul Island Cup (National Day Cup). Earlier, the Mohamed bin Hamad Khalifa al-Attiyah-owned and trained Lauderdale (IRE) won the Al Busayyir Cup as he ran out a half-length winner of the 1600m conditions for 3YO+ thoroughbreds under jockey Szczepan Mazur. The Osama Omer al-Dafea-owned and trained Taxiwala (IRE) completed a double on his third start this term, winning the Falcon Cup under Ronan Thomas in the 1200m conditions for 3YO+ thoroughbreds. Malki-owned and trained In The Night (IRE) added his fourth straight victory to his impressive record as he won the Gr3 Al Safliya Cup, a 2,350m race for 3YO+ thoroughbreds, with three lengths to spare under Tomas Lukasek.
