US Secretary of State, Uzbek counterpart discuss bilateral relations

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed Tuesday with his Uzbek counterpart Vladimir Norov the relations between the two countries and ways to support and develop them.The US Department of State said in a statement that prior to the US-Uzbekistan strategic partnership dialogue, Blinken stressed his country's firm support for Uzbekistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, pointing out that the two ministers discussed the bilateral partnership within the framework of the changing geopolitical landscape in the Central Asian region.The US Department of State also confirmed that Blinken called on the Uzbek government to comprehensively implement the reforms it announced a while ago, including measures related to protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms, supporting civil society, ensuring media freedom, and combating gender-based violence, stressing Washington's commitment to ensuring prosperity, security and democracy in Central Asia.
