Within the framework of the Qatar FIFA 2022 for All: Celebrating Football with refugees and displaced people, supervised by Qatar Charity (QC) in fan zones in several countries in co-operation with local partners, concerts by Lebanese-Swedish singer Maher Zain were organised in the Rohingya camps on Basinshahr Island in Bangladesh.Zain received a grand reception from officials in governmental and non-governmental organisations in Bangladesh, where he presented a show each in two fan zones for watching the matches, the first for women and children, and the second for men.Mahfouz al-Rahman, a local official, thanked QC for the initiative. The audience enjoyed the show and expressed their happiness at seeing Maher Zain, who also joined them in watching the Morocco-Spain match and took souvenir photos with them.Abu Bakr, one of the refugees, said: "We enjoyed this concert very much. We thank Qatar for this distinguished initiative that allowed us to see a wonderful artiste in addition to watching the World Cup matches."Mohamed Suleiman, another refugee, said: "It is a great joy to watch the World Cup match and enjoy the songs of your favourite artiste. We enjoyed the beautiful songs of Maher Zain."Amina, also a refugee, said: "We love Maher Zain, and this concert made us very happy. Thank you Qatar for this initiative."After the end of the ceremony and Zain's return to Dhaka, he shared his experience in a press conference in which he expressed his support for the refugees and the displaced and said: "We all have a responsibility to stand by the marginalised in this world, including the refugees, so that they can live a decent life."Zain added: "As an artiste, I will work hard to create awareness to alleviate the suffering of helpless refugees in different countries, including the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh."A similar concert was previously organised for refugees in the Zaatari camp in Jordan, which was performed by artiste Hammoud al-Khader and Zain.
