Doha to host Global Half Marathon
The Qatar Sports for All Federation, under the Ministry of Sports and Youth, will stage the third edition of the global half marathon "One Run for All" on May 24 at Lusail International Circuit, drawing more than 2,500 runners across all ages and categories, including men, women, children and senior citizens.Addressing a press conference, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation Abdullah al-Dosari outlined details of the race, now in its third year in Qatar. He said Doha was once again gearing up to host one of the world's biggest half marathons, run simultaneously in over 110 countries with more than 200,000 participants worldwide, 160,000 of them from Russia and 40,000 from other nations, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, China, Brazil, Serbia, Cameroon and Armenia.Al-Dosari said this year's event would feature six race categories, with the introduction of a 400m race for children and a 2.5km course designed to broaden participation and encourage families to run alongside their children. The programme will also include 1km, 5km, 10km and 21.1km races.He said the event promised an enjoyable evening for running enthusiasts, with entertainment activities at the fan zone kicking off at 4.30pm and the races starting at 9pm. All races are due to wrap up by 10pm.The executive director said race day would be a memorable occasion for participants and their families and friends, as in previous editions.
