The State of Qatar condemned the Israeli attack that targeted a Lebanese army patrol on the Khardali-Nabatieh road, and resulted in the death of two officers and a soldier. Qatar considered the attack a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the sisterly Republic of Lebanon, as well as a clear breach of international law.In a statement Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to assume its responsibilities by compelling the Israeli occupation authorities to cease their repeated attacks on Lebanon, to respect international conventions and laws, and to fully implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701.The Ministry reiterated the State of Qatar's firm stance towards the Republic of Lebanon, its unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and its full support for all efforts that enhance its stability and prosperity. It also expressed its condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Lebanon. 

The State of Qatar strongly condemned the repeated Iranian attacks on the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Bahrain, considering them a blatant violation of the sovereignty of both countries and a flagrant breach of international law. In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need to spare the region the repercussions of these unjustified attacks and to work towards de-escalation in order to restore regional and international security and stability. The Ministry reiterated the State of Qatar's full solidarity with the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Bahrain and its support for all measures they take to preserve their sovereignty and security.

 Wifaq Family Consulting Center, member of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, is launching the 46th edition of its premarital counseling program in cooperation with the General Directorate of Endowments. The program will run from June 8 to 10 at the center's headquarters in Lusail City.The program is part of the center's efforts to empower young men and women to establish happy and stable married lives and enhance their family awareness through theoretical and practical premarital training. This stems from the importance of conscious preparation for this pivotal stage in the lives of individuals and families.The program aims to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and values ​​necessary to build a marital life based on understanding, affection, and compassion. It also aims to strengthen their ability to deal with the various responsibilities and challenges they may face at the beginning of their married life, thus contributing to family stability and establishing a culture of positive partnership between spouses.The new season includes three main themes covering the legal, psychological, and social aspects of married life. These themes are presented by a number of Islamic scholars and experts in family and psychological relations.The training workshops address a number of topics related to married life, most notably legal rights and obligations, understanding the differences between spouses, personality types, effective communication skills, and managing marital conflicts. This helps participants build a more conscious, balanced, and stable marital relationship.The premarital counseling program is one of the center's leading programs. Over its previous seasons, it has had a positive impact on spreading a culture of family preparation and raising awareness of the importance of preparing for married life. This culminated in the center winning the Rawda Award for Excellence in Social Work in recognition of its contributions to supporting families and enhancing the quality of family life.The center called on young men and women who are about to get married and newly engaged to take the initiative to register via the electronic link available on the center's official accounts on social media platforms, to benefit from the program, which is held under the message: "Because the beginning of a successful marriage starts with awareness and readiness." 

Qatar Chamber is participating in the 114th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC), being held in Geneva until June 12, with the participation of representatives of governments, employers, and workers from 187 member states of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).  The chamber’s delegation includes Nasser Ahmed al-Meer, advisor to the chairman of Qatar Chamber for Labour Affairs and the employers’ representative in Qatar; Abdulaziz al-Kuwari, director of the Legal Affairs Department; and Hamad Ali al-Marri, director of the Committees and Business Councils Affairs Department.  In his remarks, al-Meer lauded the ILO’s efforts to promote economic development, social justice, and decent work. He noted that rapid technological advances and digital transformation have made the development of human capital and future skills essential for sustaining economic growth and enhancing labour market competitiveness. He added that digital transformation is creating new professions, requiring employers to modernise work environments and adopt innovative solutions to address future labour market challenges and reduce unemployment risks.  Al-Meer also said Qatar Chamber, as the representative of employers in Qatar, values the government’s efforts to promote international cooperation, exchange expertise and best practices, and strengthen social dialogue among the three parties of production, while leveraging digital transformation and artificial intelligence to support sustainable development and create decent job opportunities for all.  He emphasised that Qatar Chamber renews its commitment to ILO principles and affirms its support for the Palestinian people, calling on the international community to intensify efforts to end the suffering of Palestinian workers, particularly in Gaza, and ensure their right to work and a decent life.

Participants in Qatar’s first Generative AI for Sports Leaders programme highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence (AI) literacy, saying that organisations must equip professionals with the skills to use emerging technologies responsibly and effectively. Launched by the Qatar Olympic Academy (QOA) in partnership with Google Cloud, the pioneering programme introduced sports leaders, researchers and professionals to the applications of generative AI across strategic planning, communications, fan engagement, event management and data-driven decision-making. For many attendees, the course represented more than a technical training programme; it provided an opportunity to better understand both the benefits and potential risks associated with AI. Basil Pathrose, who works at the Qatar Olympic Committee, said that the workshop offered insight into a technology that is rapidly shaping the future. “I think this workshop is very important for the future because AI is what’s running the future,” he said. “It is good to understand how AI works,” Pathrose continued. “It’s how we should remain safe around it. It’s not just about knowing AI, we should also know how we behave around it so that AI doesn’t control us.” He noted that many users adopt AI tools without fully understanding their implications, making awareness and education increasingly important. “Most people do not know how to use AI very well,” Pathrose pointed out. “It’s important to raise awareness about the benefits of AI and also the dangers of AI. We are still like small children when it comes to AI.” Balsam Mustafa is a researcher at Qatar University with a master’s degree in business analytics. She said that the course helped deepen her understanding of generative AI models and their growing role in research and data analysis. “It was an amazing experience that gave me the chance to learn about generative AI models and the advancement of these technologies,” Mustafa said. She highlighted the importance of AI tools in accelerating analytical work and supporting decision-making across industries.Mustafa lauded the partnership with Google Cloud, noting that advanced tools such as Gemini are becoming increasingly relevant in research environments. “Data is needed in every field,” she said. “Organisations need to develop their employees’ skills and build capacity through such advanced technology.” One of the programme’s highlights, Mustafa added, is the practical component, where participants explored Gemini’s capabilities in voice, video and image generation. For entrepreneur and research assistant Fatma Siddiq, the course offered both theoretical and practical insights into how AI can support innovation and business growth. “The entire course was very enlightening in terms of the usage of AI and how it works in real life, while also understanding the foundation behind it,” she said. Siddiq said that AI already plays a role in her business, from market research and customer analysis to product development and marketing strategies. However, she stressed the importance of using the technology responsibly. “Privacy is a major concern for everyone,” she said. “The thing is, how do you use it? What information do you feed the AI? That’s what decides if it’s going to be beneficial or if it’s going to harm you.”

The Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) has participated in London International Disputes Week 2026 (LIDW26), represented by The Rt Hon The Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd, president of the Qatar International Court.As part of the main conference programme held at the QEII Centre in London, Lord Thomas participated in a panel discussion titled ‘AI, Authenticity and the Future of Evidence: Trust in a Synthetic World’.The session explored how the international disputes community can preserve confidence in evidence while responding to the opportunities and challenges presented by transformational artificial intelligence.During the week, Lord Thomas also spoke at and attended a series of high-level engagements, including the dinner hosted by Monckton Chambers and Michelman Robinson LLP under the theme ‘Arbitration as the Guardian of the Rule of Law in an Unstable World’, the London International Disputes Week Co-Chairs’ Dinner held at Livery Hall, and the BarMENA dinner event held at The Delaunay.Commenting on the participation, Lord Thomas said: “London International Disputes Week continues to provide an important platform for dialogue on the key issues shaping the future of international dispute resolution.”He added: “As technology continues to transform the way evidence is created, presented and assessed, it is essential that courts and dispute resolution institutions continue to uphold confidence, fairness and the rule of law. QICDRC is pleased to contribute to these discussions and to strengthen its engagement with the international disputes community.”QICDRC’s participation reflects the court’s continued commitment to contributing to international legal dialogue, engaging with leading global platforms, and supporting the development of trusted, effective, and forward-looking dispute resolution systems. 

Experienced midfielder Assim Madibo has said Qatar team can handle the pressure of playing against strong sides when they kick off their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign next week. Qatar, two-time Asian champions, take on Switzerland, Canada and Bosnia & Herzegovina in their three group stage matches across the US and Canada. “This journey with the national team has been full of challenges (in the last few years). I am satisfied with my performance over the past years, having participated in numerous tournaments, including the last two editions of the AFC Asian Cup and other competitions,” Madibo, 29, said in a video interview released by the Qatar Football Association (QFA). “The accumulated experience of many of the current squad members, who have previously participated in continental and international tournaments, such as the AFC Asian Cup (which Qatar won in 2019 and 2023), can motivate the players to perform at their best, as they have developed the ability to handle pressure,” he said. Madibo expressed his desire to perform admirably and bring joy to the fans during the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. He pointed out that the task at the World Cup will not be easy because the nature of matches in such major tournaments requires intense focus and attention to detail, including managing the pressures. PLAYERS GAINED SUFFICIENT EXPERIENCE He noted that the players have gained sufficient experience to adapt to a tournament of the World Cup’s magnitude. “Our other task as experienced players is to help the players participating for the first time overcome the hurdle of dealing with these high-stakes matches and immerse themselves in the tournament atmosphere early on. Our main goal remains to form a cohesive group of young players and experienced veterans,” he added. He emphasized that the presence of fans in the stands is a significant motivator for the players, contributing to their best possible performance. Madibo said that their objective as players is to bring joy to the Qatari fans, to make a respectable showing in Al Annabi s second appearance at the World Cup finals, and to reflect the progress Qatar football has made in recent years. Qatar will play their first match in the 2026 World Cup, when they face Switzerland on June 13 in San Francisco, USA. In Vancouver, Qatar will face Canada on June 18, and conclude their matches by playing Bosnia & Herzegovina in Seattle, USA, on June 24.
