Al Wakra Municipality and Earthna Center for a Sustainable Future - Qatar Foundation's (QF) non-profit policy research and advocacy center, announced their co-operation in carrying out studies to calculate carbon emissions in areas located within the municipality's administrative borders and to develop the necessary mechanisms for this through several stages, QNA reported.
In a press conference Sunday, Director of Al Wakra Municipality Eng. Mohamed Hassan al-Nuaimi and Sustainability Director at Earthna Center Sheikh Dr Soud bin Khalifa al-Thani highlighted the importance of this co-operation and joint efforts between the two sides, especially in terms of calculating the stock of carbon emissions in areas within the administrative borders of Al Wakra city, and analysing the results and data to take sustainable measures to improve the quality of life in the city by following work mechanisms, which the municipality has started to take by launching the Al Wakrah initiative on the path to carbon neutrality.
They stressed that continuous efforts between Al Wakra Municipality and Earthna Center, within the framework of this joint project, would make Al Wakra city among the list of advanced cities in the field of sustainable development at the international level and enhance joint work between the two parties in these areas.
