The Mexican Football Association has unveiled the national team’s home shirt for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The new shirt of the national team carries impressions of the heritage of the Mexican team and its various participations in World Cup tournaments. Made by Adidas, the new design of the team shirt carries the country’s national emblem, reflects cultural diversity and the flag of Mexico in its three colours green, white and red.
Mexico play in Group C with Argentina, Saudi Arabia and Poland, and will open their the tournament against Poland at Stadium 974 in Ras Abu Aboud on November 22. Mexico are considered as one of the most attended teams in the World Cup finals, having qualified 16 times (1930, 1950, 1954, 1958, 1962, 1966, 1970, 1978, 1986, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018) Their participation in Qatar will be the 17 in their history.
Mexico’s best results were in 1970 and 1986, when it hosted the tournament on both occasions and reached the quarter-finals. Mexico, in partnership with Canada and the United States of America, are also to play host to the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
