Qatar, represented by the Civil Defence Council, is participating in Seventh Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (Transitioning from Risks to Resilience), which kicked off in Bali, Indonesia on May 23, with wide participation from various countries of the world. The delegation of the Civil Defence Council in the forum, which will last for six days, is headed by Director General of Civil Defence, Brigadier Hamad Othman al-Dhaimi and the delegation includes a number of council members from various authorities in the country.
Through a series of round tables, high-level dialogues and discussion sessions, the forum discusses a range of topics including: diversity in the leadership of disaster risk reduction, improvement, understanding and management of systemic risks, disclosure of the global assessment report, inclusive and resilient recovery in urban contexts, data challenges and solutions for disaster risk management, public meeting for the mid-term review of the Sendai Framework, and other related topics.
