HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Qassim al-Thani attended the opening ceremony of the World Economic Forum Davos.
On the sidelines of the forum, the minister will hold a number of meetings with a number of ministers and senior officials from the participating countries and international organisations.
This year, the forum sheds light on a number of important issues and topics under the slogan ‘Preparing for the Post-Covid Era’. It tackles six main topics, including ways to: enhance global and regional co-operation; achieve economic recovery; build healthy and equitable societies; safeguard climate, food, and nature; lead the industry transformation; and harness the power of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
About 2,500 leaders and experts from around the world will participate in this year's edition, including more than 50 heads of state and government, 1,250 leader from the private sector, and up to 100 global innovators and technology pioneers.
Qatar participates annually in WEF meetings. The previous forum reports praised Qatar’s balanced economic performance, and its wise management of policies pertaining to macroeconomics and the efficiency of good and service markets.
Moreover, the reports commended Qatar’s initiatives aimed at providing a supportive environment for innovation, and motivating individuals and the private sector so they contribute to enhancing GDP growth to increase the national economy’s strength and competitiveness.
Founded in 1971, the WEF is an independent international non-profit organisation, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and is entrusted with world development.
The forum meets annually in Davos, convening a large number of heads of state and government, senior government officials, and key influential businesspersons in the global economy. This annual meeting aims to provide a platform for communication and exchange of ideas between the participants. Additionally, it comprises an important opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations between various countries and international companies.
