Qatar Charity (QC) has implemented 92 water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) projects in Sanghar, Badin and Tando Muhammad Khan districts in Pakistan’s province Sindh so far this year.

These WASH projects included the installation of water pumps, construction of sanitation facilities and raising awareness on personal and environmental hygiene. These were designed to improve the health and hygiene levels in the most vulnerable communities, and provide them with clean drinking water facilities, QC said in a statement.

Qatar Charity implemented 47 WASH projects in Badin district, 20 in Tando Muhammad Khan district and 25 in Sanghar district, focusing on vulnerable communities. The WASH interventions were carried out in villages, schools and mosques.
Naeem Soomro, deputy director of the Social Welfare Department of Tando Muhammad Khan district, paid a visit to QC’s WASH interventions where he said, “Tando
Muhammad Khan is one of the deprived districts of Sindh.” He thanked Qatar Charity for carrying out the WASH interventions in the district, hoping that QC would expand its interventions in other districts as well.
The beneficiaries expressed their delight with the project. “We were facing water, sanitation and health issues in our village, and had to practise open defecation,” said Jan Mohamed, a beneficiary of the WASH projects implemented in Sanghar district. “We are very happy that we have now drinking water and toilets in our homes with support from Qatar Charity,” added Jan Mohamed.
Last year, Qatar Charity installed 81 solar water pumps in these three districts of Sindh, with 40 solar water pumps in Badin, 20 in Tando Muhammad Khan and 21 in Sanghar.
