Alumni of Qatar Foundation’s (QF) universities will find new careers in the aviation industry opening up to them through a partnership with Qatar Airways to equip locally nurtured talent to join the airline.
The long-term collaboration between QF and Qatar Airways aims to create an array of opportunities – both full-time roles and internship – with the airline for graduates who emerge from QF’s education ecosystem.
The partnership – sealed with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding this week at QF’s first Alumni Reunion Event – will be customised to ensure that QF alumni are prepared to join the award-winning carrier.
“At Qatar Foundation, we are proud of all our alumni – the embodiment of why we invest in education – and of the contribution they make to the development of Qatar with their skills, their positive and proactive mindsets, and their dedication to excellence,” said HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad al-Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation.
“They remain part of our story and our mission even after they have graduated, and we are committed to helping them pursue rewarding, impactful careers in different fields and sectors in Qatar, so that our nation can retain the talent that we nurture.
“Our partnership with Qatar Airways reflects this commitment, and we are delighted to be collaborating with such a world-class organization to create pathways for our alumni to join its team as we seek to encourage our graduates to build their careers and their futures in Qatar.”
HE Akbar al-Baker, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, said: “At Qatar Airways, we are continuously looking to attract bright and talented minds to join our company, which is why participating in this MoU with Qatar Foundation is so strategic.
“It enables us to look within our country, amongst some of most prestigious universities from across the globe, to find skilled talent, creative thinkers, and curious minds.
“As the World’s Best Airline, we look forward to extending opportunities to the QF alumni community in Qatar, and to welcome hardworking and accomplished individuals to join the Qatar Airways team.”
The academic programmes offered within QF’s higher education landscape – comprising Hamad Bin Khalifa University and QF’s seven international partner universities – cultivate skills that align with Qatar Airways’ needs and will support the aviation leader in recruiting for positions, with QF’s alumni network helping the company to headhunt talent.
Through the partnership, training programmes and information sessions will also be provided for QF alumni considering potential careers with Qatar Airways, while the airline and QF will also explore the introduction of an aviation management education programme.
This week’s QF Alumni Reunion and Career Fair at Al Shaqab saw hundreds of graduates of QF’s universities and schools return to Education City to both make and restore connections with their fellow alumni, and share stories, experiences, and challenges.
