Those who have recovered from Covid-19 are advised to take the vaccine booster dose three months after recovery, Hamad General Hospital medical director Dr Yousef al-Maslamani has said. Speaking to Qatar TV on Wednesday, he said: "The immunity of the recovering person lasts up to nine months, but we advise all those recovering to take the third dose three months after recovery."
In cases of infection and subsequent recovery, the body will be immune against the virus and this will last at least six months and can go up to nine months. However, after six months immunity begins to decline and almost disappears after nine months, he explained.
He also advised people who have recovered and want to travel to take the vaccine one month after infection. While Qatar treats a person recovering from the virus as a vaccinated individual, there are countries that do not do so, he noted.
