Qatargas recently hosted the 17th Engineering Forum, which brought together more than 400 engineering experts from the oil and gas industry and academia.
The delegates represented major companies including QatarEnergy, Qatar Chemical Company, Shell Global Solutions, ExxonMobil, Dolphin Energy, TotalEnergies, North Oil Company, Qatar University, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, and different academic institutions in Qatar.



During the annual event, the participants shared their expertise on vital topics concerning the industry under various sessions titled ‘Optimisation & Best Practices; Integrity and Reliability; and Innovation & Technology’.
In his opening remarks, Qatargas chief executive officer Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa al-Thani said, “This annual assembly of highly-skilled engineering talent has proven to be an excellent platform to share knowledge among industry peers. These are exciting times for our engineers and it is a good opportunity to share and learn best practices, interact with technical experts, and understand what peers are doing to compete in this challenging environment.
“This is also an opportunity to establish and network with new friends and make valuable connections as part of our continuous effort to improve our performance and enhance quality across all our functions."
A total of 98 abstracts were submitted, 21 of which were selected to be presented at the forum, and 14 technical posters.
Qatargas chief engineering & projects officer Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulla al-Thani said, “Qatargas has achieved, and has been maintaining, a very high rate of asset reliability and availability for a very long period. Participants also considered the best practices, lessons learned, production optimisation and cost-competitive economic strategies in the oil and gas industry in Qatar. The event also provided networking opportunities among peers and showcased case studies on a wide range of engineering subjects.
